Plant Care: Fiddle Leaf Fig

Fiddle leaf figs are part of the ficus family. Like many ficus, they’re sensitive to changes in their environment. When you bring one home, don’t worry when leaves fall off the bottom of the stalk. Try not to relocate them around your home too often. They are happiest when set down and ignored! They like indirect sunlight with some periods of direct sun, so near a North or East facing window would be best.

You’ll want to water your fiddle leaf when the top inch or so of the soil is dry (but it should stay moist under that top layer!) Once the top layer of soil is dry, give it a good drench. If the leaves of the tree start to go limp, you are under-watering.

They really are lovely plants, so treat them right and enjoy!
