Plant Care: Bird’s Nest Fern

Asplenium Kadaka Fern or Bird’s Nest Fern

The bird’s nest fern is a relatively low-maintenance fern. It enjoys low light and not quite as much humidity as necessary for most ferns. It does like it’s soil to be kept moist, but not wet. It can also tolerate drying out periodically.

Like air plants or the popular staghorn fern, bird’s nest ferns are epiphytes, meaning they grow on the surface of other plants. They can survive on sun, air and water without being planted! Most bird’s nests you will find will be sold planted, however.

They’re a great addition to your home with their bright leaves, unusual texture and easy care.
